Barista Salary in Pakistan: What Baristas Really Earn in 2026

Updated 15 October 2026 · 8 min read · by Barista Studio head trainer M. Khizar Abbas, Bahria Town Phase 6

Quick answer

Most barista jobs advertised in Pakistan in 2026 pay roughly PKR 30,000 to 60,000 a month, and Indeed Pakistan puts the national average at about PKR 44,700 a month (75 reported salaries, October 2026). Entry-level café jobs sit at the lower end; experienced baristas at busy specialty cafés, hotels and upscale restaurants reach the higher end, and a few ads go up to PKR 70,000. Skills such as consistent espresso, milk texturing and latte art, plus reliability on busy shifts, are what move you up the scale.

Students ask us about money before they ask about milk. That's fair: if you're leaving another job or spending on training, you want to know what a barista salary in Pakistan actually looks like. This guide uses published job ads and salary data rather than guesswork, breaks pay down by city and level, and shows what really pushes your monthly pay up. Watch the short reel above to see the kind of practical test our students sit, because those same skills are what employers pay for.

One honest note before the numbers. Salary data for baristas in Pakistan is thin, many cafés never publish pay, and figures change every few months with inflation. Treat everything below as indicative and always confirm the offer in writing with the employer.

What is the average barista salary in Pakistan?

The average barista salary in Pakistan is about PKR 44,700 a month, according to Indeed Pakistan's barista salary page, based on 75 salaries reported and last updated in October 2026. Individual job ads we reviewed ranged from PKR 30,000 to 70,000 a month.

Indeed's figures are self-reported and approximate, so read them as a midpoint rather than a promise. A fresh trainee at a small café will usually start below that average. A barista with two or three years behind a commercial machine, working at a busy specialty café or a hotel, can expect to sit above it.

Barista pay per month by role level

Job titles vary from café to café, but most coffee bars in Pakistan follow a similar ladder. The ranges below come from the Indeed Pakistan average and from individual barista ads on Indeed and Mustakbil in 2026. For senior roles there is very little published data, so we have said so instead of inventing a figure.

Role level Typical responsibilities Indicative monthly pay Source note
Trainee / junior barista Prep, cleaning, brewed coffee and cold drinks, learning espresso under supervision, till and service PKR 25,000–40,000 Karachi café ads on Mustakbil and Indeed listed PKR 25,000–40,000 and 30,000–35,000
Barista (1 to 2 years) Pulls shots and steams milk on a commercial machine, basic latte art, runs the bar on normal shifts PKR 35,000–50,000 Islamabad fine-dining ad (1 year experience) PKR 35,000–40,000; Lahore ad PKR 45,000–50,000; Indeed average about PKR 44,700
Senior barista / shift lead Dials in espresso each morning, trains juniors, handles rush hours, stock and quality checks PKR 50,000–70,000 Islamabad café ad PKR 40,000–60,000; Karachi restaurant ad PKR 50,000–70,000 (few published ads)
Head barista / bar manager Menu and recipes, staff training and rosters, supplier and machine care, cost control Negotiated, often above the senior range Too few published figures to quote a reliable range

These ranges are a snapshot from October 2026. Ads come and go, and the same café may pay a strong candidate more than it advertised.

Barista salary in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad

Pay is broadly similar across the big cities, with Karachi slightly ahead on the published data. Indeed reports about PKR 45,900 a month for Karachi baristas, and ads in Lahore and Islamabad mostly fall between PKR 35,000 and 60,000.

Barista salary in Karachi

Karachi has the largest café and restaurant market, and Indeed's Karachi figure (about PKR 45,900) is a little above the national average, with areas such as DHA reported higher. The spread is wide, though: morning-shift café ads at PKR 30,000–35,000 sit next to restaurant ads at PKR 50,000–70,000.

Barista salary in Lahore

Lahore's café scene has grown fast, but published barista pay is scarce. One Lahore barista ad we found offered PKR 45,000–50,000, and other Lahore ads asked for at least a year of experience without publishing pay. Indeed does not yet show a separate Lahore average.

Barista salary in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Ads in Islamabad in 2026 ranged from PKR 35,000–40,000 at a fine-dining restaurant to PKR 40,000–60,000 at a café. Rawalpindi tends to follow the twin-city market. Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and other growing cities have fewer coffee bars and very little published data, so expect pay at or slightly below the big-city ranges, and ask around.

What affects how much a barista earns?

Five things matter most: where you work, what kind of venue it is, how skilled you are on the machine, which shifts you take, and what comes on top of base pay.

  • City and area. Busy commercial areas and upscale neighbourhoods usually pay more than small-town cafés, partly because the venues charge more per cup.
  • Café type. Specialty cafés value espresso and latte art skills. Hotels and larger chains may offer a more structured package, sometimes with meals and uniforms. A small dessert café that sells a few lattes a day may pay less and expect you to cover the counter too.
  • Experience and proof of skill. Employers pay for someone who can run the bar alone on a Friday night. A certificate helps you get the trial; your shots and milk win the job.
  • Latte art. Consistent hearts, tulips and rosettas tell a manager you control milk texture. It is one of the clearest ways to stand out at a trial shift.
  • Shifts. Late-night and weekend shifts are common in Pakistani cafés. Some employers pay overtime or a night allowance; many don't, so ask.
  • Tips and service charge. In many restaurants and hotels, tips or a share of service charge are pooled among staff. How much reaches the barista varies a lot from venue to venue, so ask exactly how it is shared before you count on it.

How to earn more as a barista

The fastest way to earn more is to become the person a café can trust with the whole bar: dialling in espresso, steaming milk well at speed and training others. Pay follows responsibility.

  1. Get your espresso basics rock solid. Know your dose, yield and time, and be able to fix a sour or bitter shot without help.
  2. Make latte art repeatable. Practise until a heart and a tulip come out right on most cups, not once in a while. Our latte art for beginners guide breaks down the steps.
  3. Learn manual brewing. V60, Chemex and French press are on more menus now, and many baristas cannot do them well.
  4. Build a short video portfolio. Ten clean clips of your pours and workflow are more convincing than a long CV.
  5. Take on training and opening duties. The barista who opens the bar, calibrates the grinder and coaches new staff is the one who becomes shift lead.
  6. Look at the Gulf once you have experience. Many Pakistani baristas move to the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Qatar after a year or two at home.

Barista salary in Dubai for Pakistani workers

Barista pay in the UAE is quoted in dirhams and is usually part of a package. Indeed UAE reports an average of about AED 2,700 a month for the UAE and about AED 2,900 for Dubai (October 2026), and many ads add a company visa, air ticket, medical insurance, meals or accommodation.

That package matters more than the headline number. Accommodation and transport in Dubai are expensive, so an offer with housing included can be worth more than a higher salary without it. Check the current exchange rate, compare like for like, and only accept offers that come through the legal route. Our guide to barista jobs abroad from Pakistan explains how to do that safely, including the Bureau of Emigration process and how to spot fake agents.

Common mistakes when negotiating barista pay

  • Not asking what "salary" includes. Clarify base pay, meals, overtime, tips or service charge share, and off days before you accept.
  • Accepting a long unpaid "trial". A short trial shift is normal. Weeks of unpaid work are not.
  • Underselling your skills. If you can dial in and pour latte art, show it at the interview. Bring your phone with videos.
  • Job hopping too fast. Moving every two months for PKR 2,000 more can make you look unreliable. A solid year at one bar often pays off later.
  • No written offer. Ask for a letter or message that confirms pay, hours and the start date.

Does barista training increase your salary?

Training does not guarantee a higher salary, but it shortens the time it takes to reach the skills employers pay more for. A trained beginner can often skip months of "cleaning and watching" and start on the machine sooner.

At Barista Studio, our one academy is in Bahria Town Phase 6, Islamabad, and students travel from other cities in Pakistan to train with us; classes run 10 AM to 1 PM, Monday to Saturday. All three programs are hands-on on commercial espresso machines: the 15 Days Program (PKR 40,000), the 30 Days Program (PKR 60,000) and the 3 Months Professional Program (PKR 150,000), with a certificate on completion. The longer programs simply give you more hours of practice, which is what employers notice. See what each includes on the barista courses page, read more about coffee training for students across Pakistan, or book your seat on WhatsApp when you are ready.
